In Memory of Alison

So I thought and decided that there are a few things that I can do in memory of Alison. Some of things I have already said that I would do but here's my list all put together. I love you Alison and I'm so glad that you were my sister, my best friend, and my HERO.

  1. Growing my hair out and cutting it off and donating it in Alison's name.

  2. Donate blood as often has I can. I'm O negative same as Alison and it's the most common blood that is needed. I used to do it all the time but haven't in a few years.

  3. Become a Chemo Angel. She got so many nice things through this and it always put a smile on her face when she got things in the mail.

  4. Make one of the walls pictures of her.

  5. Print out her and Tom's blog so when my girls are old enough I will read it to them.

  6. Using the same launder detergent and fabric softener as she did. (I started this a few weeks ago and will continue. The girls love the way the clothes smell.)

  7. Having her and Tom's kitty Paisley.

  8. Helping Katy with her wedding. (Things that Alison was going to help her with.)

  9. Still writing on my blog. Her and Tom were the reason that I started one. They both inspired me.

  10. Keeping a journal so then when I go to her grave site I can read it to her.

I just clicked over from Darcy's blog and read your post. As an FYI (in case you don't already know)...there is a site called blurb.com where you can upload your blog to a book. You may want to do this with your sister's blog. I'm sure it would be a beautiful book.

My grandpa, who was like a father to me, passed away 18 years ago. I still go to the cemetery and talk to him. It gives me peace and is very therapeutic.

You have wonderful ideas …there is nothing like a sister’s love!

Keeping you and your family in my prayers!

Not sure if you remember me but I went to school with Alison. My name is Becky Neterer (now Marple) Alison and I got back in touch with each other just a little over a year ago and remained in touch through emails, a few phone calls and cards. I just wanted to let you know how much Alison meant to us all. I've kept a close eye on your and Tom's blogs and have cried many times thinking of the emotions you are all feeling. I can't tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I too lost my sister only when I was still a teenager. I wanted to reach out to you those first few days but didn't. I remembered my first few days after my sisters passing and remembered that fog. Remembered people talking to me and seeing their mouths move but not really hearing what they were saying. It was all a complete daze. Seeing people I hadn't seen in years and not remembering it later in the day, EVERYONE hugs and kisses you and you almost begin to get closterphobic. I remember all those crazy emotions from mad, sad, angry with God, happy with God, overcome with uncontrollable tears. Know that my heart TRULY goes out to you.

I don't mean to ramble, because the real reason I came to post a comment is just to let you know I can't stop thinking of Ali. I came to your page today and saw your ideas of what to do in memory of Alison and you inspired me (much like your sister always did) I work for the nicest apartment tower in Oklahoma City. I was thinking today what I could do in memory or to help with the fight against cancer or SOMETHING. I've decided to do a mass blood drive. I will have a blood donation truck drive out to my building and will have my tenants that live here give blood one afternoon. I had done it once before but only as a contribution to the community. I am thinking I can have T shirts made with Ali's picture on it. I will send you one once I get them.

I'm starting my sign up sheet tomorrow!

If ever you want to vent or cry or ramble feel free to email me at beckybeenete@yahoo.com

Warm Regards!
